A village called STOK!

Stok Village

Sometimes nature can be your best companion!

I can spend hours in a place like this. Can you?The photograph above is from a little Gompa in Stok Village in Ladakh, India. It is the perfect place if you are looking for peace and quiet while losing yourself in the lap of nature…or if you are in search of some inspiration.

Snow clad mountains surrounding the village

This photograph above, is of the same location. The Gautama Buddha statue, which stands some 71 feet in height was started in 2012 and completed in 2015. It was dedicated on August 8, 2016 by Tenzin Gyatso, who is the 14th Dalai Lama. Underneath the statue is a beautiful temple with all its walls handpainted by various artists, some even coming from Nepal, depicting various Gods and moments from Buddha’s life. The intricacies of the temple leave you speechless and mesmerized.

There is also a newly constructed cafe right next to it if you wish to make your experience even more delightful while enjoying various types of teas which are very popular among the locals. It’s a beautiful village providing solace from the pressures of daily life besides igniting a little spark of jealousy…for the simple lifestyle!

  1. I went to the mountains for the first time a few months ago and stayed in a little Indian community, it was the best most relaxing trip I ever took!! This really reminds me of it!

      1. Thank you for the suggestion, I definitely will if I ever get the chance! Just from your pictures, I can see and feel the atmosphere of it. Of course you never truly know until you’re there but thank you for sharing.
